COLUMBIA, Tenn. -

Police say there has been no improvement in the condition of a young mother shot in the head outside a Columbia nightclub over the weekend.

Michelle Grooms Talavera, 28, was found was found shot and lying in a road early Sunday morning.

Detective Brian Goats said several people have called in with tips and concerns over the last 40 hours and they're following up on leads.

He encourages anyone with additional information to step forward.

"You never know," Det. Goats told Nashville's news 2 Monday, "that might be the big piece of information that were looking for."

Officers responded to the 900 block of Woodland Street just after 2 a.m. Sunday to find Talavera outside the club neighbors refer to as the Country Club.

The young mother of four small children was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where she remained Monday in critical condition.

Friends Crystal Bennett and Heather Brashears talked to Nashville's News 2 on Sunday.

The pair said Talavera is like a sister to them.

"She's got kids, she's a mama, she works hard and now she's fighting for her life," said Bennett.

"We've been praying and crying since two o'clock in the morning," added Brashears.

Police believe several people witnessed the shooting.

Anyone with information is urged to call Maury County Crime Stoppers at 931-381-4900 or the SAFE tips line at 931-380-2930.
