CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -
A 41-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash after swerving to avoid a deer early Friday morning in Clarksville.
Police said the rider was traveling south on Trenton Road around 5:40 a.m. when a deer crossed into his path.
The rider swerved, crossed into the northbound lane and collided with the side of a Chrysler minivan.
Police said the driver of the minivan, 44-year-old Christopher Fullen, observed the motorcyclist swerve and took action to prevent a head-on collision.
The motorcycle rider was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville and was last listed in critical condition.
The passengers in the van were treated at the scene for non life-threatening injuries.
