Unhitched trailer sparks fires along Highway 43 in Maury County

MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. -

Crews responded to several grass fires along a busy roadway in Maury County on Wednesday afternoon.

The fires were reported along Highway 43, south of Industrial Boulevard, around 1 p.m.

Firefighters on the scene reported to Nashville's News 2 a trailer used in meth cleanup came off a Tennessee Drug Task force truck, sparking the fires.

Authorities immediately responded to the scene and secured the area.

The fire was extinguished a short time later.

Officials said there is not a hazard to the public.
