Cigarette sparks grass fire in Ashland City

Posted:
ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. -

A cigarette is likely to blame for a grass fire along Ashland City Highway Tuesday afternoon in Cheatham County, about one mile northwest of the Davidson County line.

The Ashland City Fire Department began receiving calls around 1 p.m. from passersby who noticed the smoke.

Firefighters quickly responded to the scene and were able to extinguish the fire before it grew.

Fire officials told Nashville's News 2 they expect to see more grass and brush fires due to the recent dry conditions.

There was no significant damage from Tuesday's fire.
