CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

A pregnant woman gave birth after crashing her car early Tuesday morning in Clarksville.

According to Clarksville police, Brooke Golden was traveling west on Ashland City Road near Seven Mile Ferry Road around 3 a.m. when she ran off the right side of the roadway and hit a cement culvert.

The 21-year-old suffered facial injuries and was taken by ambulance to Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville and then airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

According to a police department release, the woman was nine months pregnant and Vanderbilt staff delivered her baby boy shortly after she arrived.

Authorities said the newborn was uninjured in the accident.

Golden was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. She was last listed in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing and police said charges are pending.

The baby has been placed in the care of the Department of Children's Services.
