Lebanon woman shot during struggle with suicidal grandfather - WKRN, Nashville News, Nashville Weather and Sports

A Lebanon woman was shot while trying to take a shotgun away from her elderly grandfather who was trying to kill himself.

Police said the man, who suffers from dementia, was also hit by the shotgun blast.

The incident happened just before 6 a.m. Tuesday in the front yard of the family's home in the 3700 block of Southeast Tater Peeler Road in Lebanon.

Authorities told Nashville's News 2 the shotgun discharged during the struggle between the man and granddaughter.

Medics took both victims to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
