GALLATIN, Tenn. -
Gallatin police are urging residents to keep their homes locked and to report any suspicious activity after two recent violent sexual assaults that occurred during armed home invasions within two days of each other.
Authorities responded to the first incident around 11 p.m. Tuesday night at a home in the Castalian Springs area. The second incident occurred Thursday around the same time.
In both cases, two male subjects entered the homes, raped the victims and fled after taking various items.
Detectives said they believe both cases are related.
"It's always troublesome to us when we have someone that's committing assaults in our area," said Officer Bill Storment with the Gallatin Police Department. "We're particularly alarmed that we've had two incidents that are so similar and so close in time."
Officials are urging people to keep their homes locked and secured.
They are also asking homeowners report any suspicious persons or activity.
Anyone with information on the incidents are urged to call the Gallatin Police Department at 615-452-1313 or the Sumner County Sheriff's Department at 615-452-2616.
