LEBANON, Tenn. -

As families prepare to celebrate dad on Sunday, some are coming to terms with the near certainty that this Father's Day could be their loved one's last.

That's why one organization is making sure families dealing with late stage cancer are treated to one last unforgettable trip together.

The Jack and Jill Foundation has sent hundreds of families on incredible vacations to help take their minds off of their troubles and have helped create lasting family memories.

Nashville's News 2 spoke with the Rollins family of Lebanon who recently returned home from a week long trip to Vail, Colorado.

"The most important thing is that I just spend as much time as possible with [my family] There's nothing more important than that," said Danny Rollins.

Danny was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in February of 2010, which has now spread to his liver and brain.

After Danny, his wife Lisa, and their great niece and nephew, Graci and Tristan, returned home from a week of Jeep tours, skiing and enjoying each other's company, the foundation presented them with a photo album of their trip.

"The trip was awesome," Danny said. "You forget about everything that was going on. It's all about making memories."

Getting away and making memories was exactly what founder Jon Albert had in mind, when he created the Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation after his wife died of breast cancer.

"We're not about death and dying, we're about beaches and sunsets," he told Nashville's News 2. "We're about music and sports. We're about time together as a family."

The foundation has sent more than 500 families on trips to Alaska, Disney World and everywhere in between.

They rely on corporate partnerships with airlines and hotels, as well as private donations.

Albert has since remarried since losing his wife to cancer.

His current wife, who also lost a spouse to cancer, has launched a T-shirt with her motto "Hurry up and Live" to allow the foundation to serve even more families.
