NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Two drivers were sent to the hospital after an ambulance collided with another vehicle early Friday morning in north Nashville.

The incident happened just after 12 a.m., Midnight on Dr. Db. Todd Boulevard at Heiman Street.

Authorities told Nashville's News 2, the ambulance was traveling northbound on Dr. DB. Todd Boulevard when a Gray Monte Carlo pulled out in front of the emergency vehicle.

The ambulance swerved to try and avoid the Monte Carlo and ended up hitting the car before smashing into a light pole.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities said the ambulance suffered heavy damage and was taken out of service.

Officials said the damage to the light pole did not cause any power outages.
