NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
The Fourth of July is just three weeks away and the Let Freedom Sing! celebration at Riverfront Park promises to be bigger and better in 2012.
"It'll be a bigger fireworks show," said Butch Spyrdon of the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau, adding, "It will be a little longer and it'll have more 10-inch shells than we have ever had."
Nashville is the largest show in the South and it's ranked one of the top five Fourth of July celebrations in the country.
Last year, approximately 125,000 people attended the Fourth of July celebration, which generated $5.6 million in tax revenue.
This year, thanks to the addition of the lawn at Riverfront Park, the event has the capacity to welcome an additional 20,000 people.
Festivities will begin Tuesday, July 3 with a free concert at Riverfront Park beginning at 6 p.m.
The music starts at Noon on Wednesday.
The Mavericks, Craig Morgan, Sarah Darling, the Music City Hit-Makers and the Nashville Symphony will perform beginning at 6:45 p.m.
"Come early to get a seat," warned Spyrdon. "There will be a little more room on the lawn. Bring a blanket and the skyline will be in the background. The stage will be in the foreground and the fireworks will light it all up so it's really the coolest overall view we've ever had."
News 2 will stream the fireworks show live on wkrn.com, WKRN's mobile app and on Comcast Channel 245.
The event is free and open to the public.
