Police hope blood will lead to gas station robber

Posted:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police are hoping a trail of blood left at a crime scene will lead them to a suspect who robbed a south Nashville gas station Monday night.

Authorities told Nashville's News 2 they believe the suspect who robbed the Mapco on Murfreesboro Pike near Polk Avenue around 11 p.m. may have robbed it on five separate occasions in the last two months.

Similar to the previous break-ins, the suspect broke into the gas station by smashing a rock through the front door.

Upon investigation, detectives discovered blood on the scene and believe the suspect may have cut himself while leaving.

Authorities sent the blood to the lab for testing and are also looking at surveillance video to help with the investigation.

No other information was immediately released.

If you have any information you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
