NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Metro police are investigating after a man was shot near a north Nashville convenience store Sunday night.
Authorities responded to the Kwik Sak convenience store near Clarksville Pike and Kings Lane just after 11 p.m. after reports of a man with a gunshot wound.
The victim was shot down the road on Kings Lane, got in his vehicle, and drove off.
At some point, the victim waved someone down for help and jumped out of his vehicle while it was still in gear. The car received minimal damage as it crashed into a nearby guardrail.
The person that was waived down took him to the Kwik Sak parking lot where they waited for help.
Captain Preston Brandimore told Nashville's News 2,"The Good Samaritan did ask that the victim go to a well-lit area which was right across the street."
He continued, "The gas station is well lit [and] it also has surveillance video, but the Good Samaritan did a fantastic job contacting us and getting the fire department personnel to the scene."
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital.
No further details were immediately released and the investigation is ongoing.
