National Guard unit scheduled to return from Afghanistan

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A Tennessee Army National Guard unit will return to Tennessee on Saturday following a year long deployment to Afghanistan.

Fifty Smyrna soldiers from the guard's 1-107th Airfield Operations Battalion are scheduled to arrive at the Nashville International Airport at 10:10 a.m.

The more than four dozen soldiers will immediately travel to the National Guard's facility in Smyrna for out-processing.

Since September 11, 2011, more than 27,000 Tennessee Army and Air National Guardsmen have been deployed.
