Randy brings over 20 years of forecasting experience to the News 2 Storm Team. He has a passion for tracking severe and breaking weather in the studio and live out in the field. He has forecasted and reported from nearly every type of weather event including tropical weather, record mountain snowfalls and record desert heat.
Before coming to Nashville, Randy worked for WTSP-TV in Tampa, Florida. Here he forecasted and reported live during some of the sunshine states most active hurricane seasons. He also created a weekly feature segment titled the "Wildside" that took him searching for pythons in the Everglades to meeting mountain gorillas in Rwanda, Africa. Randy has also worked for television stations in Orlando, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Tucson and Lexington, Kentucky.
Randy is a certified meteorologist and graduated from Arizona State University.
In his spare time, Randy enjoys working with young broadcasters and assisting them in sharpening their on-air skills. Randy has helped to create a training facility that helps future meteorologists, reporters, anchors and hosts get hired. He is proud to have helped hundreds get their first job in television.
When he's not working, Randy loves to be out boating, scuba diving, wake boarding, running, rollerblading and traveling too hard to reach places. One of his favorite spots on the planet is Machu Picchu in Peru.
Randy's other passion is his family. He lives with his wife Kathleen and his son Riley.
