A Cookeville Police Captain helped catch a burglar as he was purchasing a cup of coffee late last week.
Captain Bruce Lamb was inside the Tiger Market on South Jefferson Street last Friday when a customer alerted him.
"When I went up to the counter, the young man approached me and asked if he could speak to me," said Lamb.
The customer told Cpt. Lamb he had just had several items stolen from his truck parked out in front of the store. The victim also said he had a description of the car he believed the burglar was driving.
Lamb said, "He looked outside and saw this vehicle pull in beside his truck and then about a minute later it was leaving the parking lot in a hurry."
Lamb told Nashville's News 2 he immediately put out the vehicle's description to all units and Sgt. Darrin Stout heard the call.
"I was actually here at the police department and just headed over to Jefferson and Jackson streets. I met the vehicle that matched the description," said Stout.
When Stout pulled the vehicle over he asked permission to look inside and discovered some of the victim's belongings.
Police arrested Jeffrey Ragland was taken into police custody.
He is charged with burglary.
