NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
The Titans can move forward with plans to build a concert stage at LP Field after receiving approval by the Metro Sports Authority Friday morning.
Official details have not been released but the stage could be used for concerts to draw in a larger crowd ahead of kickoff and to pump up the crowd during halftime.
The performance stage would be 30 feet by 27 feet and be attached to the scoreboard in the north end zone.
LP Field serves as Nashville's biggest music venue.
The stadium is already undergoing major renovations that include new high definition scoreboards, a new sound system and high speed elevators.
The upgrades, estimated to cost $26.8 million, will be completed in time for the start of the 2012 season.
There is no word on how much the concert stage would cost but it will be paid for by the
Titans.
LP Field may also soon have free and easily accessible Wi-Fi.
The NFL hopes to install Wi-Fi at stadiums throughout the country to improve the fan experience.
A timeline for when Wi-Fi might be available was not known.
