CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -
A Clarksville woman called police Monday after she discovered someone entered her barn and cut the hair off her show horse Jazzy.
Lauren Crocker told police she was visiting her father when the theft occurred on her property off Vaughn Road.
According to Crocker, someone restrained the horse and chopped off her mane and some of the hair on her tail.
"It's not only, ‘Oh, they cut your horse's hair. ‘ It's, I don't have words for it at all," she said, adding, "As you can see right here, you can tell from the halter from where she was fighting it."
It could take up to four years for the horse's mane to grow back to the length it was before it was cut.
Crocker believes the hair will be sold to make tassels, wigs and other accessories and says her horse's mane is even more valuable because it's white.
"A quarter of a tail, which is that length or longer, [goes] for $100," she said.
Crocker told Nashville's News 2 she rents out stables in her barn and people are always in and out.
She said the front door was unlocked at the time of the alleged theft.
Crocker is working with police and trying to locate surveillance video to find the person or persons responsible.
Anyone with information should call Clarksville police.
