Longtime friends of Donna Summer remembered the times they spent with the queen of disco after learning the news of her untimely death.

The legendary artist died Thursday in Florida at the age of 63 after a battle with lung cancer.

Nashville's News 2 spoke with Summer's friend and band mate Nathan Digesare.

He said he has many fond memories of making music with Summer inside his home studio in Franklin.

"She'd come here and sing I used to be out there on the piano. We used to let the tape roll and see what we came up with at the end of the night, finished songs, we have a lot of songs that aren't finished, but maybe someday the world will hear them," Digesare recalled.

Donna moved to Middle Tennessee in 1994 and put down her roots in Williamson County.

While living just outside of Nashville she attended Christ Church, where she and her family were often seen sitting in the worship hall's second pew.

"What struck me was how sincere and humble and deeply rooted her faith was. She was the real thing. She was a very dear person," Pastor Dan Scott said.

Funeral arrangements for Summer have yet to be released.
