Mayor Karl Dean named 'Nashvillian of the Year'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Mayor Karl Dean was named "Nashvillian of the Year" during a ceremony in downtown Nashville on Thursday night.

The event was held at the downtown Hilton Hotel and was hosted by Nashville's News 2 morning anchor Neil Orne.

The Easter Seals, a non-profit organization which helps individuals with special needs, have recognized leaders in the community with the coveted award since 1993.

Mayor Dean took office in 2007.
