Church holds prayer service for teen injured in golf cart crash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Nearly 200 people gathered at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Green Hills Thursday night for a prayer service for a 15-year-old boy who was injured in a golf cart crash Wednesday evening.

Brennan Roach was riding in the vehicle along with three other teens in the Legend's Ridge subdivision of Franklin when the golf cart's right tire blew, causing the driver to lose control.

Roach's best friend, 15-year-old Ryan Tropauer, was killed in the accident.

The three surviving crash victims were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Many attendees of Thursday night's service are members of Covenant Presbyterian Church's youth group.  Roach is also a member.

"Dealing with this type of tragedy takes a lot of fellowship with other believers and I think this is why this is important," friend Maggie Rutherford said.

The pastor of the church updated the congregation on Roach's condition before the service began.

He said the teen's last few CAT scans have been good, and that there's no new bleeding on his brain.

A second 15-year-old passenger has since been treated and released for his injuries.
