Man arrested for selling drugs to officer

Posted:

A man was booked into the Monday evening after trying to sell drugs to an undercover officer at a south Nashville gas station in February.

Metro police said Brandon Avery, 30, gave the undercover officer approximately one gram of a white rock substance, which he presented as crack cocaine, at the Shell gas station in the 800 block of Murfreesboro Road.

After taking money from the officer, he exited the vehicle and began to walk away.

At that point, a Metro police detective exited the car and told Avery to get on the ground.

He ignored the commands and ran into a nearby apartment complex.

The substance Avery tried to sell to the officer did not test positive for cocaine.

Avery was charged with selling a controlled counterfeit substance, a felony, and evading arrest.

His bond was set at $15,000.
