NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police are continuing to search for the suspect who robbed an armored truck driver Wednesday near the Green Hills mall.

Officers said the Loomis vehicle was robbed in the parking lot of the First Tennessee Bank on Abbott Martin Road, across the street from the Mall at Green Hills around 12:45 p.m.

Police told Nashville's News 2 the male suspect approached the driver of the vehicle as he was about to enter the bank.

"The driver of the armored car parked the vehicle and put a bag of money to be delivered to the bank on a dolly and wheeled it to the front door when he was suddenly confronted by the suspect. The suspect pepper sprayed him without warning, grabbed the bag of money and fled on foot to the Kroger parking lot," Metro police spokesperson Kris Mumford said.

Witnesses reported the robber drove off from the nearby Kroger parking lot driving a small silver sedan with a temporary tag.

Mumford added the suspect was wearing a red shirt, khaki shorts and a white ball cap at the time of the incident, but is believed to have changed into a white shirt following the incident. He was also believed to be wearing a mask.

The suspect is described as a white male believed to be in his 40s.

He is also said to be around six feet, two inches tall and weighs around 250 pounds.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
