COLUMBIA, Tenn. -
A Lewisburg woman was killed in a fiery collision Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 65 in Maury County.
The accident was reported around 1:20 p.m. near mile marker 46.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said Patricia Carol Perry, 35, was traveling southbound on I-65 when she lost control of her vehicle, veered across the center median and into the northbound lanes.
There, her Toyota Rav4 was struck by a northbound semi-truck and burst into flames.
Perry was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where she was pronounced dead.
A northbound Dodge Ram pickup truck struck a guardrail while attempting to avoid the first collision.
The driver of the truck, Richard Reed, 48, of Madison, was not injured.
The driver of the tractor trailer, Hector Herrera, 54, of Houston, Texas, was also not injured.
Citations were issued although it wasn't immediately clear to whom.
The crash shut down the northbound lanes of I-65 for several hours.
Only one northbound lane had reopened at 9 p.m. The second lane reopened overnight.
