George Jones released from hospital

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

County musician George Jones was released from a Nashville area hospital on Tuesday.

The country legend, commonly referred to as "The Possum" was admitted to the hospital last week while he received treatment for an upper respiratory infection.

A spokesperson for Jones said he is thankful for all of the prayers and well wishes sent by his friends and fans over the past several days.

The 80-year-old plans to return to the stage on April 20 in Minnesota.
