NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police arrested a Kentucky fugitive Saturday after he threatened a taxi driver with a knife outside the Opryland Hotel in Nashville.

The taxi driver called police after his passenger, William Todd, 24, refused to pay cab fare and pulled out a knife.

Opryland security witnessed the incident and followed Todd as he fled on foot to a powerhouse cooling tower.

Several authorities followed the suspect up a ladder on the side of the powerhouse and discovered him in a water pit.

Todd was disarmed and held by police while Metro firefighters responded to the scene to assist removing him from the roof with the use of a basket and ladder truck.

Todd was taken to an area hospital to be checked out for apparent heroin use.

After being released, police booked him on three counts of aggravated assault, theft of cab services and being a fugitive out of Kentucky.

Todd is also suspected in several other crimes, including robbery, carjacking and the burglary of the Slaughter House haunted house attraction on 6th Avenue South in Nashville.

Todd remains in the Metro jail on $180,000 bond.
