The son of the principal of Father Ryan High School in Nashville was killed Monday in a moped accident while on a spring break trip in Mexico.
Nineteen-year-old Kevin Paul Davis graduated from Father Ryan in 2009 and was studying marketing at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
He is the son of Father Ryan Principal Paul Davis.
Father Ryan cancelled classes and all after-school activities to mourn the loss of Davis on Tuesday.
In a statement, President Jim McIntyre said the Father Ryan community is heartbroken to learn of Davis' death.
McIntyre described Kevin as a "vibrant and loving soul who brought energy and joy to this community and to his family."
He continued, "His Father Ryan roots run deep. A member of the Class of 2009, he is the son of Father Ryan Principal Paul Davis '81 and Teresa Sharp Davis '81, the brother of Philip Davis, '08 and relative to numerous Father Ryan alumni. This family is a wonderful, well-known and active presence at our school and in the Catholic community, and has been for generations."
Audry McInturff, a freshman engineering major at UT also from Nashville, was injured in the accident.
