The crimes happened in the late afternoon and early evening hours during the last two weekends in February.
Thieves are breaking into vehicles and then stealing valuables.
"The bad guy comes along, looks inside, sees exactly what he wants inside, breaks the window takes it and leaves," said Sgt. Charles Warner with the Franklin Police Department.
Police told Nashville's News 2 some of the items that were stolen were hidden, while some of them were in plain view.
Police said thieves are striking in crowded areas where people like to dine and shop.
"All of these are happening when people are making seemingly short trips inside," said Sgt. Warner. "They may go in, get a table and have a quick bite to eat and come out and find that their window has been smashed."
To avoid becoming a victim, police urge you to either leave your valuables at home, take them with you when you get out of the car, or hide them before reaching your destination.
Franklin police have increased patrols in the Cool Springs area.
More car break-ins have been reported in Brentwood.
