Survey ranks Nashville among top frugal cities in country

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A new survey shows Nashville is the 10th most frugal city in the country.

The survey, by Coupons.com rated cities by the percentage of residents using digital coupons, coupons shoppers download from store Web site's and other coupon sites.

"Across the country more Americans than ever before are turning to digital coupons to help them save their hard-earned cash," Jeanette Spavin with Coupons.com said in a release.

She continued, "The South and Midwest dominate the list of most frugal U.S. cities, out-saving other regions including the West and Northeast."

Nashville also ranked 13th out of cities whose residents use coupons on mobile devices.

One of the more popular apps for coupon clipping is Coupon-Clipper which uses a phone's location service to find businesses offering online coupons.

Uncle Bud's in Nolensville is one of many local businesses found on the Coupon Clipper app.

The catfish restaurant with three Nashville locations, is currently offering two coupons, a $2 off any order and $5 off orders $25 or more.

Manager Eddie Deadpanned told Nashville's News 2, businesses almost have to offer coupons in order to compete with others.

"[With the cost] the gas and the people out there, the economy is tough. They just want a little break here and there."

The Coupon Clipper app is free for both iOS and Android devices.

The top ranking for the most fugal city in the country went to Atlanta.
