NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Country trio Rascal Flatts was honored on Wednesday for their charity work at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital in Nashville and other organizations.
The group received the Country Radio Seminar Artist Humanitarian Award.
"It's awkward to get an award for doing something you feel you ought to be doing. We're very, very grateful," Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts said.
In recent years the group has donated $3 million to the pediatric surgery center at the hospital, in addition to serving as celebrity spokespersons for the national suicide prevention organization, The Jason Foundation.
Past winners of the award include Charlie Daniels, Reba McEntire and Brad Paisley.
