Lightning likely to blame for Murfreesboro house fire

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

Fire crews extinguished a house fire Wednesday morning in Murfreesboro.

The blaze broke out around 7:30 a.m. at a home on Katelyn Court off Joben Drive and Cason Trail.

A neighbor told Nashville's News 2 he heard a loud pop and went outside to find the roof of the home fully engulfed.

The neighbor said he immediately ran over to the home and began banging on the door.

No one was home and no one was injured.

Initial reports indicated lightning may have struck the home although the cause of the fire is underway investigation.

The home may be a total loss.
