FAIRVIEW, Tenn. -
Interstate 40 eastbound is reduced to one lane Wednesday morning after a semi-truck driver lost control and ran off the interstate.
The wreck was reported around 6 a.m. about one mile west of Fairview.
Police said the Fed-Ex truck driver lost control during a heavy downpour, left the roadway, struck a guardrail and an interstate sign before coming to rest in a wooded area.
The driver was trapped in the cab.
Paramedics removed him and transported to St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville with minor injuries.
One lane of I-40 East was blocked while a tow truck worked to clear the wrecked semi.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol estimated the crash would be cleared and both lanes reopened by about 10 a.m.
Additional information was not released.
