LEBANON, Tenn. -
A Wilson County veteran has started a clothing line that donates a percentage of its sales to help wounded members of the military.
Lebanon native and 10 year Navy veteran Charles Keel said the idea to start the Not Your Average Clothing Brand came to him early one morning.
"Basically what we are is a charitable clothing foundation for various foundations for the military," Keel explained.
As the CEO and Founder of NYA Clothing, Keel told Nashville's News 2 he knew he wanted to help make a difference in the lives of fellow wounded veterans.
"What we do is take 25% of every item that we sell and give to one of the foundations that we represent," Keel said.
Keel has partnered with the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and Healing the Unseen Wound Project which helps military members struggling with traumatic brain injuries.
NYA Clothing Brand's Hero Line offers blue jeans which are embroidered with a yellow ribbon, an American flag and the name of an actual military veteran who is a member of one the foundations the NYA Clothing's Hero Line supports.
"We actually put [the names] always on the heart side underneath the left pocket," Keel said.
Keel told Nashville's News 2 he wants customers to choose the Hero Line for their clothing and as a way to give back to members of the military who have sacrificed so much.
"We don't want to limit this to service men. We want have it to anybody who would like to wear something to be proud of and give back to our next greatest generation," he said.
Keel said he currently does most of his business online, but has plans to open a store in Lebanon in the near future.
