2012 Weddings: What's hot?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

From extravagant to intimate and bringing the outdoors in, when it comes to weddings, Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center does it right.

The facility hosts more than 200 weddings a year around grand staircases and lush atriums.

As director of catering operations, the resort's weddings are Vincent Dreffs' responsibility.

"They're everything from small balcony-style weddings that overlook our atriums to 150 [guests] and we have a larger area that can do up to 750 [guest] as well," he told Nashville's News 2.

The hotel and resort can certainly offer the perfect wedding setting, but every bride brings her own style.

"I think this is every bride's dream. You can have the fairytale wedding," Dreffs continued, adding, "[The] hot color this year is tangerine and tomato together."

Just as the runway dictates fashion, colors used by printers and paint companies dictate weddings.

Colors aren't the only things changing, according Dreffs

"Craft cocktails, signature cocktails named after the bride [or] the groom," he said. "We're away from traditional sit down formal style dinners so it's salad, bread, entree and corresponding dessert, all themed, all one item, all one station."

He continued, "The new item is ghost chairs, which are clear chairs so it allows your linens to show through all the way to the floor."

While ceremony stands, most of the accessories stand out.

Dreffs concluded, "This is the ‘me' generation. You know I hate to say that, but it has even made its way into weddings... tailoring it specifically for them. It's their personality in a room."

Although Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center hosts weddings for nearly every budget, the average wedding includes 180 guests at a cost of $9,000 to $15,000.
