SMYRNA, Tenn. -

The first luxury vehicle ever produced in Tennessee rolled off the production line during a special ceremony Monday at Nissan's vehicle assembly plant in Smyrna.

The Smyrna plant will build the all new, seven-passenger 2013 Infiniti JX, which goes on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide next month.

"We are extremely proud and honored to be building this world-class vehicle right here in Middle Tennessee," Susan Brennan, Vice President of Manufacturing for the Nissan plant, said in a news release.  "We expect the inspired design and quality craftsmanship built into every new Infiniti model that rolls off the Smyrna production lines will deliver inspired performance that is second to none."

Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore said he expects the Infiniti JX to quickly become the company's second highest selling model behind Infiniti's G-line.

"The luxury crossover market is the fastest growing luxury segment in America, representing a huge opportunity for Infiniti," he said.

The 2013 JX delivers best-in-class fuel economy ratings of 21 mpg and 20 mpg combined for the front-wheel drive and intuitive all-wheel drive models respectively.

The new JX also features the world's first Backup Collision Intervention system.  Backup Collision Intervention uses sensors in the rear of the JX to detect potential obstacles when backing out of a parking space.  The system can automatically apply the brakes to help avoid potential impact.

The new Infiniti JX starts at $40,450.
