NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Fat, wet snowflakes fell across parts of Middle Tennessee Sunday morning following periods of overnight rain.
The snow stuck to grassy areas and other surfaces but the roads in Nashville remained wet.
In Clarksville, drizzle changed to a wintry mix around 9 a.m. With temperatures in the upper 30s, the roads were mostly just wet.
"I think it was very pretty. It looked like a winter wonderland," Katrina Jordan told Nashville's News 2.
She and her family traveled to Clarksville from Gatlinburg.
"We slowed down as a precautionary measure but then we actually did see a few cars that had run off the road, so I would say slightly slick in areas," Jordan continued.
With temperatures above freezing, no accumulation was expected in Nashville although forecasters called for a slight accumulation along the Kentucky border, higher elevations east of Interstate 65 toward the Cumberland Plateau including Smithville and McMinnville.
The best chance of significant snowfall was in north Middle Tennessee for areas like Cookeville, Crossville and Jamestown, where there could be two or more inches of accumulation.
Sunday evening and night, slick roads are predicted in the areas northeast of Nashville that see snow as temperatures fall to the upper 20s.
