NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
A Madison husband and wife are glad to be uninjured after a fire partially burned their home Saturday morning.
Around 9:30 a.m., the husband and wife were in the kitchen when the smoke detector in a bedroom went off.
They ran to the bedroom to find it engulfed in smoke.
Madison fire officials reached the scene at 216 Nix Avenue to find a house in flames.
The department was five minutes away from the scene, but was not able to save the back portion of the house. The rest of the house sustained heavy smoke and water damage.
The Red Cross was called to assist the couple.
Fire officials had not determined the cause of the fire.
