NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
A convicted felon wanted for firing shots earlier this week at a busy Metro Center intersection surrendered Friday at Nashville police headquarters.
Timothy Batts, 24, is charged with attempted criminal homicide after police said he fired shots at Cheyenne Turner Wednesday morning, striking him in the shoulder.
Police said Turner, 19, was stopped at the red light on Dominican Drive at Rosa Parks Boulevard and Batts was a rear seat passenger in an SUV that pulled up beside him.
In an attempt to getaway, Turner sped into the intersection and was t-boned by a car traveling on Rosa Parks.
Turner was transported from the scene by ambulance. He has since been treated and released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Police said Turner received a 10-year sentence for shooting Batts outside a Jefferson Street barber shop in January 2011.
Turner, who is on probation, identified Batts as the shooter.
Batts is being held in the Metro jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond. He has a previous cocaine possession conviction in Nashville.
