Metro detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a reported shooting Thursday night in east Nashville.
Tommy Wilkerson II initially reported that two men kicked the back door of his Chester Avenue home around 9:30 p.m. and he fired shots from a .22 rifle, striking one of the suspects.
Later, Wilkerson, 59, admitted that his son, parolee Tommy Wilkerson III, had called him and told him that he had shot an intruder.
The younger Wilkerson, 30, left the scene before police arrived and had not been located as of midday Friday.
Wilkerson III is a registered ex-convict for felony drug convictions in Rutherford and Coffee counties.
Efforts to locate him continue.
Metro police said no shooting victims have been located.
