CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A former Clarksville woman has been charged with murder in the death of her toddler, who was mortally injured in 2009.

Caitlyn Leanore Metz was extradited after being arrested Feb. 22 in Josephine, Ore., and was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on Thursday.

A news release from Clarksville Police spokesman Jim Knoll stated the 24-year-old Metz was indicted this month on charges of first-degree murder, child rape and child abuse.

When police answered a call about an unresponsive child on Feb. 7, 2009, they found 23-month-old Keegan Andrew Metz gravely injured. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, where he later died.

Police arrested 22-year-old Joshua Ryan Starner, who has been held in jail since 2009.
