Jersey Mike's owner surrenders on tax evasion, theft charges

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. -

The owner of Jersey Mike's Subs in Hendersonville surrendered to authorities in Sumner County Wednesday on charges of tax evasion and theft.

John Tune, 44, was indicted by a grand jury on 32 felony counts for not filing sales tax returns from 2006 through 2009.

The indictments, filed February 10, charge Tune with depriving the state of more than $130,000 in sales tax revenue.

Tune was also charged with one count of theft of property over $60,000.

If convicted, Tune faces a maximum of two years in prison and a fine of up to $3,000 for each count of attempted sales tax evasion and a maximum 12 years in prison and a $25,000 fine for theft of property.
