Arrest made in hammer slaying case in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - Police in Jackson have arrested a man in the hammer beating death of another man.

Reuben Fairfield, of Jackson, was arrested Tuesday and was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in City Court on charges of murder and tampering with evidence.

There was no indication the 26-year-old Fairfield yet had an attorney.

Fairfield is suspected in the killing of Lionel Deshun Harris, whose body was found in a parking lot the evening of Feb. 7, according to The Jackson Sun.

Police said the two men were acquaintances.

Police said Tuesday they found a hammer they believe was used to kill Harris.
