ANTIOCH, Tenn. -
Metro police spent Sunday combing the area behind an apartment complex near Hamilton Church Road and Murfreesboro Road where two boys found human remains.
"Due to the state of decomposition they've been there awhile," said Detective Andrew Injaychock of Metro's Hermitage precinct.
"We're guessing summertime."
Police said the boys were cutting through the field behind the Hamilton Creek Apartments in Antioch on Saturday when they found bone fragments.
They told their parents who called police around 7 p.m.
Police stayed on the scene throughout the night to ensure no one tampered with evidence.
They are not yet sure if this was the result of foul play.
The medical examiner is trying to identify the remains and determine a possible cause of death.
Police said there was a lot of evidence in the wooded area, but they declined to give
specific details..
Police said the bone fragments do not belong to missing woman Holly Bobo.
