Colder weather causes increase at Nashville Rescue Mission

Posted:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Friday night, the Nashville Rescue Mission saw an increase in guests coming into its location in downtown Nashville.

Chaplain Jeff Lucas at the Nashville Rescue Mission told Nashville's News 2 that the Mission saw about 100 more guests than usual.

Saturday night, a group of volunteers at the Mission called the "cold patrol" will go around giving out hot coffee to those on the street and encourage them to come to the Rescue mission at night.

The "cold patrol" planned to begin Saturday afternoon on the east side of Nashville and work their way around the city.

Although Chaplain Lucas said additional volunteers were not needed Saturday afternoon, those wishing to volunteer with the Nashville Rescue Mission can sign up year-round on their Web site.

The Nashville Rescue Mission is a non-profit faith-based ministry with a mission of "helping the hungry, homeless and hurting."

The men's campus is located at 639 Lafayette Street.

The women's campus is located at 1716 Rosa L. Parks Blvd.
