NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Metro police diverted traffic off Interstate 40 westbound near Charlotte Avenue and Interstate 40 westbound near Stewarts Ferry Pike Saturday after multiple wrecks.
Police said at least seven people were injured in Saturday morning's wrecks.
Capt. Ken Walburn of Metro police advised drivers to take caution on roads until temperatures increase. He advised to plan ahead for extra travel time and to drive slowly on icy roads.
Overpasses and roads with high wind will be the most treacherous for drivers.
Westbound lanes of Interstate 40 at Charlotte Avenue were blocked after a tractor-trailer overturned but were open once again by 11 a.m.
A separate wreck involving four cars happened on Interstate 40 westbound near Stewarts Ferry Pike in Hermitage. Westbound lanes reopened around 9 a.m.
One person was sent from the Stewarts Ferry wreck to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Eastbound lanes on Interstate 40 at Stewarts Ferry Pike were open and traffic was flowing smoothly.
