MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -
The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to an accident involving a school bus in Rutherford County on Friday morning.
The collision involving the bus and another vehicle occurred on Shelbyville Highway and Rock Springs Midland Road.
Authorities reported the bus was stopping to pick up a child when a car slid into it.
The bus' stop signs were deployed at the time of the crash.
Preliminary information indicates 33 children and the bus driver were on board at the time of the collision.
Five children were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
No additional information was released.
