NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Auto Theft detectives were working Wednesday to identify four people who attempted to sell a stolen SUV to a salvage yard on Centennial Boulevard.

Police said four people were involved in towing a 2007 Mitsubishi Montero before trying to sell it.

Metro Nashville police told Nashville's News 2 that three suspects in a GMC pickup truck towed the SUV while a fourth suspect steered the Mitsubishi.

When the thieves attempted to sell the SUV, salvage yard employees began asking for identification from the suspects. Then, they drove off, leaving the stolen SUV behind.

The vehicle was reported stolen from a house February 1 on Dr. D.B. Todd Boulevard.

Anyone who recognizes the suspects or tow vehicle from the attached surveillance photos is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.

Citizens can also send an electronic tip to Crime Stoppers by texting the word "CASH" along with their message to 274637 (CRIMES) or online at www.nashvillecrimestoppers.com.

Persons who contact Crime Stoppers by phone, text or Internet can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
