FRANKLIN, Tenn. -
A new smart phone app was unveiled Wednesday that allows citizens to contact Franklin police.
The new technology allows citizens to call Franklin Police, contact department leaders, submit concerns and receive text alerts.
The app also allows users to view the department's latest news.
Designers said the app was created with Franklin residents in mind.
"We're always looking to do with the resources that we have at hand and I think this is a great example of us providing professional, progressive law enforcement services at minimal cost to the community," said Chief David Rahinsky of Franklin Police.
The Franklin Police Department is the first department in Tennessee to create an app available on the Android market.
