A Portland woman was killed despite Good Samaritans' efforts to save her following a three-car rollover crash Wednesday morning in Hermitage.

Frist Boulevard is located across from the Kroger shopping center and leads to Summit Medical Center.

Metro police said their preliminary investigation shows that Emily Boyer, 22, was traveling north on Old Hickory Boulevard when she initiated a left turn toward Frist Boulevard.

An Audi traveling in the opposite direction struck Boyer's Pontiac Grand Am, causing the Grand Am to overturn onto its roof and slide into a Buick SUV sitting at a red light on Frist Boulevard.

Boyer's aunt, 42-year-old Michelle Delk, was seated in the front passenger seat and died at the scene.

Police said Boyer was taking her aunt to the hospital for a checkup.

There were five people in the Audi, three adults and two children, and two in the Buick.  No one was else was injured.

Frist Boulevard was blocked for more than three hours while Metro's fatal team investigated.

The contributing factor to the crash appears to be Boyer's failure to yield.
