The family of a MTSU basketball player stabbed to death by her roommate last year has filed a lawsuit against the apartment complex that the fatal incident occurred at.
Tina Stewart, 21, was a resident of Raiders Crossing, located on Hazelwood Street when police said she was stabbed multiple times by her roommate Shanterrica Madden on March 2, 2011.
Stewart's family said that she repeatedly complained about Madden smoking marijuana in their off campus apartment.
The $20 million lawsuit accuses the complex of not doing enough to protect Stewart.
Madden has since been charged with first degree murder and is scheduled to go to trail in upcoming months.
Madden's attorney, Joe Brandon Jr. previously said his client acted in self-defense.
