NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
A Mid-State company had a hand in putting together many of the visual elements involved in Sunday night's Super Bowl half time show featuring Madonna.
"It's the first time projection has been used in the Super Bowl, that's the big key here," explained Marilyn Whetstone of DWP Live.
DWP Live is a one stop production company that works on trade shows, corporate events and touring concerts from Keith Urban to Gwen Stefani, but now they can add the Super Bowl to the list.
"Words can't describe how we felt for the first time being invited to the world stage and successfully pulling it off, it made us extremely happy," Whetstone expressed.
Projection played a key role in showcasing the 3D elements during the 12 minute performance. They provided nearly three dozen projectors that hung 150 feet in the air.
The projectors provided a virtual kaleidoscope on the foreground for Madonna and her special guests, which included Cee Lo and Nicki Minaj among others.
"When you saw the magazines change to speakers or when you saw the field melt away that was all controlled by our projectors and our lead projectionist."
The local company spent months prepping for the world stage and a DWP crew has been in Indianapolis for the nearly three weeks.
"There is a lot of pressure and it's very stressful just like with any live event you want to just push the go button and then you can breathe again," Whetstone said.
Crew members working the show have yet to return from Indianapolis.
Whetstone said she hopes DWP Live has the opportunity to work on production for next year's game.
